Physiotherapy

Sports massage

A sporting dog builds up tension just like a person. Sports massage is used before effort to prepare the muscle and afterwards to help it recover, and along the way it finds sore spots before they turn into an injury.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for a dog that doesn't compete?

Yes, if they do intense exercise: dogs that run a lot, that do agility or that go out into the mountains. In a sedentary dog the benefit is smaller and it's usually better to work on mobility.

Before or after the effort?

Both, and they're not the same. Before, the aim is to activate and prepare, with shorter, more vigorous work; after, the aim is to release, slower and deeper.

Can it detect injuries?

It can detect sore or tense areas and flag them, which is already a lot. Diagnosing the injury is the vet's job, and anyone who tells you otherwise is going beyond their role.
