Basic photo session
Photographing animals is mostly about knowing how to wait. The basic session happens in a controlled space, at the animal's pace, and ends with a selection of edited images. How many photos are delivered and what you want to use them for is agreed beforehand.

How many photos do I get?
The norm is an edited selection of between ten and twenty images from the whole session. It's worth putting it in writing, along with what you're going to use them for and the format you receive them in.
Can I be in them too?
Yes, and it usually improves the session: an animal is calmer with their person beside them, and the shots together are almost always the favourites afterwards.
What if my animal won't stay still?
That's normal and it's expected. Photographing animals is waiting for the moment, not posing them. What does help is coming hungry — treats work — and without having burnt off all their energy beforehand. It also gives the photographer the chance to catch more dynamic, more interesting shots.
