Ear cleaning

Drop ears, hair inside the canal and water after a bath make ears a place where problems settle. This cleaning removes wax and dirt with a suitable product and doubles as a check: if there's smell, redness or pain, what you need is a vet.

Frequently asked questions

How often do ears need cleaning?

With upright, problem-free ears, almost never: the ear cleans itself. With drop ears or dogs that swim, every one or two weeks. Over-cleaning irritates too.

Can I use cotton buds?

No. They push the wax further in and can damage the eardrum. You use an ear product and gauze, cleaning only what you can see.

When should we go to the vet?

If there's a bad smell, dark discharge, redness, if they shake their head a lot or complain when you touch the ear. That's no longer dirt, it's an ear infection, and it needs treatment.

Whatever your companion needs, there's someone here ready to provide it.
